Nigeria Reclaims Her Leading Position in Cocoa Production

A firm, Olakoko Sucden and Sterling Company have trained about 4,000 cocoa farmers on good agricultural practice in cocoa farming in order to achieve best global practice and quality production at the harvest.
The trainee farmers were selected from 14 Local Government Areas of Ondo and Osun States. The presentation of the premium took place at Igbara Oke in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ondo State.
During the presentation, the project Manager of Olakoko Sucden and Sterling Company Mrs. Mopelola Fabunmi, said there was a need to organize this training to Nigeria cocoa farmers for the country to reclaim its old leading status in cocoa production in the world.
Mrs Fabunmi promised that if farmers allowed their cocoa to go through proper processing, they would get premium at the end of the cocoa season.
She further said the training would involved a lot of practical demonstrations on the farms on bi-monthly basis that would allow farmers to utilized the knowledge acquired at the training to improve themselves and their farms.
She also reiterated that though some farmers had gone through the same training and started implementing it on their farms
